"MERCY" RESCUE
2009

This gentle German Shepherd was found wandering lost and turned over to Walton Animal Control. We figure she got caught in a trap and had to chew off her own leg to survive. Without rescue, the only option is to immediately euthanize a dog like this.

She is starved too

Exposed bone

Prepping for surgery

The vet team - Dr. Lazarov and Dr. Perry

The bone and tissue had to be cut back and closed over. Basically.

Recovery

Out for a walk

Taking a rest

Mercy gets around fine on three legs!

Mercy is what we call a "Foster Failure". That's when the foster person loves the dog so much they decide to keep it themselves! In this case, Mercy is now owned by Karen Dean, director of Walton Animal Guild.
