Heartworm infection is caused by mosquito bites and is easily prevented with inexpensive monthly medicine. But neglected dogs become infected with this destructive but invisible disease. The treatment medicine is expensive and risky as well as painful for the dog. We successfully treated 20 dogs for heartworms in 2016.
